Ive played this game more than any other since I got it a couple of years ago! Many of my cognitive skills were altered by a mild brain trauma & PTSD after a 2007 MVA: A drunkard crossed the center line & hit my car head on. I wont detail the physical injuries & hardships. Having the cognitive deficits put on the back burner until 2014 says enough about how much physical rehabilitation and lifestyle changes I had to make. I can finally enjoy the games on my iPad. I was never good at airplane or wargames, so I moved toward puzzle types. When I started playing video games, if they made me stop breathing or want to through my iPad out the window, Id delete them. I stop playing a game when I cant relax anymore, but with practice the amount of time I can play increases dramatically.
But SHADES has been FUN! and has unexpected helped me improve many lowered or lost skills: Keeping a steady hand, thinking through several concepts instantaneously, processing difficult motor & visual skills, recognizing subtle differences in "SHADES" of color -LOL- and remembering all that info to further strategize & physically make the next move... often, in the final moments, within milliseconds!! My scores are improving faster lately. I have made a skill jump, recognizing more subtleties involved in the game strategy, particularly at the different skill levels. Most gamers would still probably smear me but I smeared myself!
